As a student in the UMass Amherst animal science program you will develop scientific awareness of cell and molecular biology while developing critical and ethical thinking skills and gaining experience in animal management. You will have the opportunity to work in the laboratories of nationally and internationally recognized scientists studying immunology, reproduction and development, genetics, cancer, and toxicology.

Choose from three concentrations in preparation for a wide range of animal management and animal biotechnology jobs in agriculture and related biomedical fields.

Gain hands-on experience by participating in research and caring for the animals at the UMass Hadley Farm Equine and Livestock Research and Education Center, the South Deerfield Complex, and a local dairy farm.
