The International Education program prepares students for careers in international development building and in strengthening educational systems across the world, including within the United States. Join a community of scholar-practitioners who work alongside populations marginalized by structural inequalities such as gender, race, sexualities, ethnicity, language difference, poverty, and conflict.

Students in the UMass Amherst International Education program critically engage with issues related to achieving equitable and quality educational outcomes across the globe, including for students in the United States at all levels (PreK–12, higher education, adult education). In this program, you will gain the skills and knowledge to make change in the fields of international education and development.

Our commitment to developing scholar-practitioners with a strong foundation in applied theory, informed by an international community of students and faculty. Students will develop, critically assess, and evaluate outcomes for international development programs at any school, university, or educational institution.
