What is the goal of the day of dialogue?
The Right to Food Day of Dialogue is an event to bring community members together to discuss ending hunger and improving nutrition on college campuses and across the commonwealth. Participants will be a part of meaningful conversations, ask tough questions, and create action steps to produce food sovereignty across Massachusetts. We hope that by the end of the day everyone feels educated and empowered as they are doing the work to make a change.
What is the Right to Food?
The Right to Food is about living in a society that considers and addresses everyone’s access to affordable and nutritious food. When following the Right to Food, everyone should be able to afford the food that meets their nutritional, social, and cultural needs. The Right to Food framework holds governments accountable for making nutritious food sustainably available to all members of society without discrimination.
Who is participating?
The Right to Food Day of Dialogue is bringing together students, professors, legislators, community members, and people with lived expertise for a conversation between many parts of society. The wide range of participants shows the importance of the Right to Food for everyone.
How do I get there?
The Old Chapel is located on the UMass Amherst campus, near the WEB Du Bois library. Please utilize the map below to find the event space.
Where do I park?
Parking on campus is FREE for attendants of the Right to Food Day of Dialogue. You can park in the UMass Amherst Campus Center Parking Garage located near the Student Union. A week before the event, you will receive an email with a link to register your car for free parking.
Will food be provided?
Breakfast, lunch, and additional snacks and refreshments will be provided throughout the Right to Food Day of Dialogue. Thanks to our team at UMass Catering, we will be able to accommodate the dietary restrictions listed on the registration.
How do I register?
At this time, the Right to Food Day of Dialogue is at full capacity. We would love to have you join us if space opens up. Please register for the waiting list using this form.
What should I prepare?
We welcome everyone to come as they are for the Day of Dialogue. If you have the capacity to read the one-pagers for the afternoon breakout sessions, they are located on the website.
What will happen on the Day of Dialogue?
