2025 Professional Development Conference Accessibility
The Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences Department is committed to providing an exceptional experience to those who attend our events. When registering, please let us know of any accessibility requests so we can help accommodate your visit to campus. To support the campus sustainability efforts, printed materials will be kept as a minimum to reduce waste and costs. Accessibility Features at the Professional Development Conference
Auditory
- Closed captioning will be displayed on session slides.
- Assistive hearing devices available (in-ear and “T” loop).
Mobility
- The elevators are clearly marked, and our faculty and student volunteers are on site to assist with navigation during the event.
- The event layout will have priority seating for wheelchair or scooter users.
- Wheelchair accessible stage.
Vision
- Handouts will be accessible for downloading before the conference.
Additional Considerations
- Lactation rooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors.
- All-gender restrooms are available on all floors in the Student Union Building.
- Dietary requests are noted during registration, and we will make every attempt to meet those needs. However, we cannot guarantee options for all requests as this is dependent on the catering department.
- Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is not permitted in any room, building, or outdoor space as UMass Amherst is a smoke free campus.
- We encourage attendees to refrain from using perfume, cologne, or other fragranced personal care products to protect the health, safety and comfort of our guests.
