Associate Professor of Health Policy and Management Jennifer Whitehill is among the 5 UMass Amherst faculty members selected to receive the Mid-Career Post-Tenure (MCPT) Fellowship for the 2026-27 academic year.
The competitively awarded fellowship from the Office of Faculty Development (OFD) provides a research-intensive semester to associate professors whose service and teaching responsibilities have exceeded the norm. Chosen by Provost Fouad Abd-El-Khalick, the award’s recipients will be provided with one semester of release from teaching responsibilities, department obligations and college service.
Whitehill's research centers on injury prevention, especially among youth and young adults, much of which has focused on substance use and mental health as key risk factors for injury. She collaborates closely with state and local officials to conduct policy-relevant research designed to inform their decision making, and serves as lead evaluator on a project to examine implementation and outcomes of a novel community responder program in Northampton, MA. She has also conducted research for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission.
