Our doctoral program in nutrition operates under the framework of the PhD in Public Health within our School of Public Health and Health Sciences. It is designed to equip professionals with skills to identify, understand and solve, through scientific methods, problems of public health importance in human nutrition.

Graduates will be well-prepared to advance knowledge in human nutrition through research and promote the application of such knowledge through public health policies and programs. The curriculum is planned to meet the professional objectives of the individual student. Students may emphasize biomedical nutritional sciences, clinical nutrition, community nutrition, nutrition education, and nutrition in public health.

The program fosters the development of essential professional skills needed for working effectively in academic, research, programmatic and policy-making settings. Graduates in our programs enjoy careers in academia in basic and applied research and college teaching, government and nongovernment sectors, and industry.
