D. Julian McClements, Distinguished Professor at the College of Natural Sciences's Department of Food Science, was honored with the prestigious Distinguished Lipid and Flavor Science Award by the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), a nonprofit that works to advance food science and how we use it on a global scale. The award comes with a $5,000 prize.

IFT's community "advances the science of food and its application to drive positive change within the global food system." Each year, the organization recognizes "the impactful work of its community through our Achievement Awards, celebrating individuals and teams who are improving food for everyone."

The award will be presented during the 2026 IFT Achievement Awards, being held in Chicago on July 12.
