Academic Highlights: The Department of Food Science, ranked #1 in the U.S. and #2 globally by the US News & World Report 2022 Global Subject Rankings for Food Science and Technology, is home to three of the world's top 10 highly cited agriculture faculty members. The undergraduate program is accredited by the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT). In addition, both undergraduate and graduate students have received top awards from professional organizations as well as won international research competitions hosted by organizations such as Alltech and Millipore. The department also has strong industrial ties through its Alumni Advisory Board and an Industrial Strategic Research Alliance.
Research Areas: Topics include molecular properties of foods, the safety of foods, foods for health and wellness, and sustainable food material processing.
