CNS Outstanding Achievement Awards 2023

Recipients are nominated by colleagues within the college and chosen by committees chaired by designees appointed by CNS Interim Dean Nate Whitaker. The recipients are presented with $1,000 honorariums in recognition of their achievements.
Of this year’s recipients, Whitaker remarked, “We are delighted to have the opportunity to acknowledge the work of these individuals who go above and beyond in their work to advance academic excellence, improve the student experience, and create a more inclusive and accessible learning environment.”
On May 8, 2023, CNS recognized the following people with an Outstanding Achievements Awards Ceremony:
For Outstanding Teaching as non-tenure track faculty:
- Madelaine Bartlett, Associate Professor, Department of Biology
For Outstanding Teaching as non-tenure track faculty:
- Brokk Toggerson, Senior Lecturer, Department of Physics
For Outstanding Teaching as tenure-track faculty:
- Sibongile Mafu, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
For Outstanding Staff:
- Bill Jerome, Technical Specialist, Department of Biology
- Erin Flanagan, Business Manager, Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
For Outstanding Service & Engagement:
- Shubha Tewari, Senior Lecturer, Department of Physics
For Outstanding Research:
- Stephane Willocq, Professor, Department of Physics
- Min Chen, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry
For Outstanding Advisor:
- Erik Cheries, Senior Lecturer, Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences
Karen Helfer, Associate Dean for Graduate, Postdoctoral, and Faculty Development said, “It is a joy to be able to recognize some of the outstanding staff and faculty who do exceptional work at CNS. This small token of gratitude acknowledges the tremendous work done by so many on behalf of CNS.”
