Hands-on, interdisciplinary teaching has the potential to engage students with deeply meaningful and transformative learning experiences. In this panel and group discussion, participants across a diverse range of fields and disciplines—including rhetoric and composition, education and critical literacies, public policy, microbiology, nutrition and public health—will share high-impact practices that bridge research, teaching, and service; give students real-world and career-oriented experiences; and engage students and faculty alike in work that truly matters.

Facilitators: Ela Gezen (German and Scandinavian Studies/ISI) and Brian Baldi (CTL)

Participants: Kristen DeAngelis (Microbiology), Maria José Botelho (Education), Mariana Chilton (Nutrition), Bridgette Davis (Public Policy), and Rebecca Lorimer Leonard (English)

Co-hosted by the Interdisciplinary Studies Institute and the Center for Teaching & Learning
