Student Club Information

Each department in the School of Public Health and Health Sciences (SPHHS) supports an undergraduate registered student organization (RSO) in its major. The individual student clubs are:

  • Kinesiology Club
  • National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA)
  • Public Health Club
  • UMass Nutrition Association (UMNA)

The various SPHHS student clubs provide an opportunity to socialize with peers in your major and across the school and university, to participate in academic and career development events, and to perform community service and volunteer work. It’s also a great way to develop a great peer network while having fun with friends and fellow students.

We encourage all of our students to join their respective student club and get the most out of the SPHHS experience!

Kinesiology Club

The Kinesiology Club was formed to serve as a link for students both in and interested in the kinesiology major, to organize and attend events of interest, and to create networking opportunities among students and with faculty. They attend the New England chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (NEACSM) fall conference and invite numerous guest speakers from various professions that kinesiology majors may be interested in. The club also holds information sessions about graduate schools and works with other student organizations within SPHHS to organize fundraising events not only for clubs, but also for charity organizations.

Visit the Kinesiology Club page on Campus Pulse to join, and follow them on the Kinesiology Club Facebook page.

National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA)

The University of Massachusetts Amherst Chapter of the NSSLHA was established to provide undergraduate and graduate students who have an interest in the field of communication disorders the opportunity to interact with each other, exchange ideas, and learn more about the fields of speech-language pathology and audiology. Through various philanthropic, educational, and professional activities, the goal of the NSSLHA chapter at UMass Amherst is to prepare students for the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology, as well as to contribute to the communicably-impaired community.

Interested students should contact their undergraduate program advisor for more information.

Public Health Club

The UMass Amherst Public Health Club is a student-run organization that provides students with an opportunity to further their interests in the field of public health. All students within and outside the major are welcome to join in the club's pursuit of raising awareness about health promotion and prevention throughout the UMass Amherst community. This is done by participating in community service, hosting networking events, welcoming guest speakers, and engaging in various social and service activities. The club strives to collaborate with a variety of health-related registered student organizations to help members connect with other UMass Amherst students within the public health and health science fields.

If you want to learn more, "like" the club's Facebook page or join the club on Campus Pulse. You can also email phclub [at] schoolph [dot] umass [dot] edu (phclub[at]schoolph[dot]umass[dot]edu)!

UMass Nutrition Association (UMNA)

The University of Massachusetts Nutrition Association (UMNA) is an organization created to represent nutrition majors on campus. Through UMNA, undergraduate and graduate nutrition students develop programs to explore the nutrition profession, provide community service, and increase social connections. UMNA’s past programs include scheduling guest speakers, collecting food for hunger prevention services, creating a newsletter for all majors, and designing a recipe book for healthy eating.

Interested students should visit the UMNA page on Campus Pulse or contact their undergraduate program advisor for more information.
