Student Research
Learn about funding your education with research grants and fellowships.
Our faculty members provide guidance and mentorship in innovative, transdisciplinary research that spans the basic and applied sciences and public health, clinical practice, and community applications. Students have an opportunity to work in diverse settings, from laboratory and clinical work to community-based research and outreach efforts. Together, we work across disciplines on many pressing public health and wellness issues such as chronic and infectious diseases, maximizing health and functioning across the life span, optimizing nutritional programs and food quality, physical activity and diabetes prevention, reproductive and cancer epidemiology, women’s health, and communication impairment.

SPHHS Research Day
The SPHHS holds an annual research day in the spring of each year to provide an opportunity for the campus community to learn more about the research, instruction, and outreach efforts being conducted by students. On this day, students from all departments within the school present posters of their work in a faculty-juried poster session.
Posters are judged based on content and presentation, and select individuals receive awards in a variety of categories.
Additionally, one student is presented with the Delta Omega Honor Society award. The winner is given an opportunity to submit his/her abstract for further consideration as part of the Delta Omega Society’s poster session at the annual meeting of the American Public Health Association.
Research day event information is announced in the spring along with submission instructions and competition criteria. We encourage all students to join us.
