About

Dr. Cordeiro studies the associations between food security, high-risk health behaviors, and nutritional outcomes in multiple social and cultural contexts. Her research applies principles of community-based participatory research (CBPR), leveraging the insights of communities and helping to build their research capital. Dr. Cordeiro is the recipient of several distinguished awards and fellowships, including the Tufts University Presidential Award for Citizenship and Public Service, the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship, UMass Manning Prize for Excellence in Teaching, UMass Amherst Distinguished Teaching Award, SPHHS College Outstanding Teacher Award, Center for Research on Families Family Research Scholar, Civic Engagement and Service Learning Faculty Fellow, and was a Community Research Innovative Scholar at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School’s Center for Clinical and Translational Science.
