UMass Amherst Ranked 20th Best College to Major in Public Health

In its recently-released 2023 Health Professions Degree Guide, College Factual ranks the University of Massachusetts Amherst #20 in its list of "Best Public Health Bachelor's Degree Schools." College Factual reviewed 336 schools in the U.S. to determine which ones were the best for bachelor's degree seekers in the field of public health, placing the BS in Public Health Sciences (PHS) program at UMass Amherst in the top 6% of all undergraduate public health programs nationally.

Public health is one of the most sought-after bachelor's degree programs in the nation, writes College Factual in their rankings guide. They note the major ranked #28 in popularity, with 19,511 bachelor's degrees in public health awarded during the 2020-2021 academic year.

“The Public Health Sciences curriculum offers students multiple opportunities to participate in high impact practices,” notes Gloria DiFulvio, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Academic Affairs and PHS program director from 2011 through January 2023. “Students gain hands on experience through internships, community service, study abroad programs, and research with faculty. Students can explore their passions, connect with faculty, and make friends who share their vision for a better world.”

College Factual reports that Public Health students from University of Massachusetts Amherst earn a median early career salary that is 19% higher than the national average.
