Researchers Seek Queer Peri/menopausal Women for Study

June 29, 2026 Research

Content

Researchers in the Department of Health Promotion and Policy seek sexual and/or gender minority people experiencing peri/menopause to participate in the Queering Menopause Project.

The study seeks to better understand the diverse experiences of sexual minority women navigating peri/menopause. While menopause research has traditionally focused on cisgender, heterosexual women, many queer experiences remain underrepresented in both research and healthcare conversations. By sharing their stories, participants can help contribute to a more inclusive understanding of peri/menopause and inform future research, resources, and healthcare practices.

Participation involves a confidential one-on-one interview lasting approximately 1-2 hours. Interviews will be conducted by Dr. Krystal Kittle and Dr. Aline Gubrium and can take place remotely via Zoom or in person, depending on participant preference and availability. Participants will receive a $100 stipend for their time.

We welcome individuals with a wide range of experiences and perspectives. Whether someone's journey through peri/menopause has been challenging, positive, unexpected, or somewhere in between, we value their voice and would be honored to learn from their experiences.

Individuals who are interested in participating can complete the interest form here: https://forms.gle/mKeodZ5FjT8XHHHQ6
