

Gregory Young Named Assistant Vice Chancellor of Strategic Initiatives for Facilities and Campus Services

Shane Conklin, associate vice chancellor of Facilities and Campus Services, has announced that Gregory Young has been named assistant vice chancellor of strategic initiatives. In this position, Young supports strategic initiatives and projects that span across all FCS units and the UMass community, with direct supervision of business services, communications, transportation services and oversight of human resources within FCS.
Young joins UMass from Rowan University, where as director of the project management office he was responsible for strategic oversight and leadership of all projects and initiatives on the campus. During his tenure, he brought forward improvements in the university’s approach to inclusive collaboration, project management, process, organizational effectiveness, strategic planning and financial management. He was awarded Rowan University’s Engagement Award of Excellence for designing a workplace where employees felt inspired by their work, improving collaboration, attracting talented employees, fostering collegiality and building responsiveness and trust.
Young holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and master’s degrees in information science and business administration, as well as several industry certifications.
