Content
The College of Natural Sciences at UMass Amherst is pleased to announce the appointment of Diane Barstow as chief development officer. This position was formerly held by Brooke Weisenbeck. In this leadership role, Diane will oversee development efforts to increase alumni engagement and philanthropic support for the college.
Diane’s roots at UMass Amherst run deep. Hailing from a UMass family, she is a proud two-time alumna, earning her undergraduate degree in business management and master’s degree in public policy & administration. She started her career in corporate hotel sales and marketing before transitioning to the non-profit organizations Make-A-Wish Foundation and the American Cancer Society. Diane came to the university in 2012 as the Business Development Manager at the alumni association and led membership, corporate sponsorship, and UMass license plate initiatives. In 2016, she joined the regional program as a Director of Development where she also served as the staff liaison for Women For UMass Amherst. For the past four years, Diane has been at CNS raising critical funds for research, scholarships, and faculty and student support. In the absence of a permanent CDO, she has been serving in an elevated role managing the development team and efforts to reach the college’s annual fundraising goal of $12M.
Diane brings a wealth of experience and institutional knowledge to the position, and CNS is excited to have her lead the development team to future growth and success.
