Research Associate Sinclaire Manning Shares Rewarding Aspects of Being an Astronomer with 'Nature Astronomy'
Content

Black Space Week is an annual global celebration and amplification of Black people in space-related fields and industries. As part of the 2025 celebration, which took place in June, Nature Astronomy featured six extragalactic astronomers who shared "information about their scientific interests, research projects, and personal motivations for working in astronomy."

One of the featured astronomers was Sinclaire Manning, a postdoctoral research associate and a Hubble fellow in the College of Natural Sciences's Department of Astronomy. In the Nature Astronomy article, Manning says that one of the most rewarding aspects of being an astronomer is the ability to follow or go wherever her curiosity takes her.
"Astronomy is so easy to be curious about and getting to share that interest with others, blow their minds with some cool fact, and offer perspective on our place in the Universe is truly incredible."
