At UMass Amherst, the microbiology program prepares you for careers in medical laboratories, biotechnology research, and pharmaceutical development. Over the last decade, the biotechnology industry has seen substantial growth, which has created a large demand for highly trained personnel.
Through hands-on learning and real-world experience, you will use diverse molecular, genetic, physiological, ecological, evolutionary, and applied translational approaches to understand microbial systems and the principles of the scientific method.
