Teacher, Learning, and Curriculum Studies Ph.D/Ed.S
The Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum Studies (TLCS) program offers doctoral (PhD) and education specialist (EdS) degrees. Both degrees prepare reflective, informed, and research-oriented scholars and practitioners. The doctoral program is a research degree that prepares scholars for careers as faculty members, teacher leaders, and education researchers and requires completion of a research-based doctoral dissertation. The Ed.S degree is a great option for scholars who would like to pursue an advanced degree beyond a master’s without the dissertation project. These programs do not offer pathways to teacher licensure.
The TLCS program offers opportunities for students to build cross-disciplinary research and practices related to teacher education, children, young people and adult learning in and out of schools, child and family studies, STEM education, and curriculum studies. We are deeply committed to scholarship that relies on both basic and applied research, to pursuing rigorous theory building about educational phenomena, and to developing principled approaches to shaping educational practice.
