Participants Sought for Study on Listening Experiences
Content
Researchers in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences are looking for English-speaking persons 65 years and older to participate in a study about real-life listening difficulties.
The study, which lasts one week, includes an in-person session on the UMass Amherst campus and remote or at-home videoconference with the researcher. The study will require a hearing screening, a memory screener and phone interview about the participant’s individual listening experiences.
During the in-person session, participants will respond to survey questions through an app on their smartphone. Subsequently, they will be asked to answer a few questions 3-5 times a day about listening experiences using the app.
To qualify, participants must be proficient in English, not a current hearing-aid-user, and personally have trouble understanding speech in at least one situation. Participants will receive a $20 Amazon gift card upon completion.
