Participants Sought for Physical Activity Study
Content
The SITLess4Brain Lab is seeking participants for a short-term study to help researchers learn more about the relationship between sitting, physical activity and brain health. The research, under the direction of Dominika Pindus, assistant professor of kinesiology, and supported by the National Institute on Aging, is part of the lab’s mission to promote accessible, evidence-based strategies that support long-term cognitive wellness.
Over the course of 3-12 weeks, participants will visit the SITLess4Brain laboratory three times – once for a baseline screening that will last approximately two hours and twice for experimental visits of approximately six hours. During each visit they will be asked to exercise on a stationary bike for six minutes every half hour, alternating light or vigorous exercise with rest. They will also wear an activity monitor for one week before each experimental visit.
Men and women ages 40-75 with no history of cardiovascular disease are eligible to apply. Prior to joining the study, potential participants will be asked to complete simple tests and questionnaires over a video call lasting approximately 45 minutes.
Participants will receive compensation of up to $450.
