MOBL Research Group Seeks Volunteers for Study on Shoe Inserts

The Musculoskeletal Orthopedic Biomechanics Lab (MOBL) Research Group in the Department of Kinesiology is in need of volunteers for an industry-funded project that examines the effects of different carbon fiber shoe inserts during walking.

To participate in this study, volunteers must be a healthy, non-smoking, adult between the ages of 18 and 45 years with a BMI less than 30kg/m2. You must also wear men’s size 10-11 or women’s size 8-9 shoes.

Volunteers may not:

  • Be pregnant or suspect they may be pregnant
  • Have a history of major neurological or neuromuscular conditions such as peripheral neuropathy or cardiovascular disease
  • Have leg musculoskeletal injury or pain while walking
  • Have rheumatoid arthritis
  • Experience symptoms of pain, muscle cramps, joint stiffness, lightheadedness or other contraindications to exercise
  • Use beta-blockers, sedatives, tranquilizers or other medications that impairs physical function

This study will take place in the Totman Biomechanics Laboratory (Room 23A). Participants will be compensated $50 after completion of the visit.
