Dr. Doug Salvador, MD, MPH is Chief Medical Officer at ATW Health Solutions, a healthcare consulting firm with federal contracts in patient experience, patient safety, quality improvement, research, and evaluation.

For 20 years he served as a physician leader in hospitals and health systems, responsible for quality and patient-safety strategy and outcomes. Trained in engineering, epidemiology, and infectious diseases, he has worked across organizations to develop learning health systems, implement quality and safety strategies, promote diagnostic excellence, foster a culture of safety, and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate education.

Dr. Salvador is a professor of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School-Baystate, and a faculty member of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). His academic work focuses on patient and diagnostic safety, Apology and Resolution Programs, Quality Measurement, and Healthcare Management. He is especially interested in system-level interventions that make diagnosis timelier and more accurate and reduce patient harm.
