

Jon Connary Named Associate Dean of Students and Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards
Jonathan Connary has been named associate dean of students and director of student conduct and community standards by Patricia Cardoso-Erase, interim dean of students, effective July 9. In his new role, Connary is the university’s primary conduct officer, providing leadership, oversight, strategic direction and supervision of the staff and operations of the Student Conduct and Community Standards Office.

For the past nine years, Connary served as an assistant dean of students for student conduct, assisting in the interpretation and administration of the student conduct process and the management of the Student Conduct and Community Standards Office.
Before joining UMass Amherst, Connary worked as an area coordinator at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, where he supervised and established performance goals for resident advisors and assisted in planning and implementation of student staff trainings and social justice curriculum. In addition, he served for a time as interim assistant director of student life and student conduct.
Previously, Connary held positions at Ohio University and Maine Central Institute. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of New England and a master’s degree from Ohio University.
The Student Conduct and Community Standards Office supports the educational goals of the university by educating the campus community on the Code of Student Conduct, upholding the code, engaging students in conversations that promote reflection, accountability and growth, and identifying and connecting students to campus and community resources.
