The Chancellor’s Leadership Fellowship (CLF) program seeks to cultivate future campus leaders by offering a half-time, one-year temporary appointment to an administrative area on campus and providing mentoring from the leader of the host unit. In addition, fellows are expected to launch a significant program during their fellowship year. CLF appointments include a 50% teaching release and one month of summer salary. Student Affairs and Campus Life (SACL)

  • SACL Chancellor’s Learning Fellow – Health Promoting University Project

SACL seeks a fellow to work with the assistant vice chancellor of Campus Life and Wellbeing and the University Director of Public Health to assist in the development of a campus-wide strategic vision for wellbeing. This will include culling relevant data and research to inform the development of key campus-wide targets four areas of the Okanagan Charter: health and wellness; diversity, equity and inclusion; sustainability; and the built and natural environment.

Academic Affairs

  • Office of Faculty Development (OFD)

The Office of Faculty Development seeks a fellow to work with the associate provost for faculty development and the director of faculty development to conduct internal research and develop programming related to either (i) local institutional climate and belonging, including supporting inclusive, healthy and productive departments, (ii) faculty retention or (iii) faculty development needs identified by the applicant. The Fellow will additionally assist with offering signature OFD programming and special projects.

  • Provost’s Office

The Provost’s Office has three priority areas for a potential CLF, with mentorship provided by the Provost’s Leadership team: faculty equity and inclusion (with the new senior vice provost for diversity, equity, inclusion and justice); flexible learning; and programmatic development for the UMass Amherst Mount Ida Campus.

Applicants may propose an area within Academic Affairs and suggest mentors to support their fellowship year. Within Academic Affairs, past fellows have been placed with a wide range of senior mentors, including the provost, the dean of the Graduate School, the dean of Humanities and Fine Arts, the senior vice provost and dean of Undergraduate Education, the vice provost for Faculty Development and the associate provost and director of the International Programs Office.
