The graduate certificate in sustainable building construction is a five-course program designed for professionals looking to advance knowledge in sustainable building construction and increase their market value with a credential. 

This certificate is a great fit if you are interested in learning more about: 

  • Building energy assessment and modeling 

  • Design of wood structures, including mass timber 

  • High-performance building design 

  • Sustainable building certification systems 

  • Building information modeling (BIM) 

  • Managing sustainable building projects 

Your coursework will cover a range of topics such as sustainable (green) building systems and materials, energy and conservation, building technologies, and construction management.  

This flexible program can be completed through courses offered online and in person in Amherst, Newton, Massachusetts, (on our Mount Ida campus), or in both locations. 

If you’re considering applying to the one-year master of science in sustainable building systems, all 15 certificate credits will transfer to your degree.
