About
I was born in 1958 in Baku, Azerbaijan (former USSR) and graduated with a M.S. from the Biology Department of Baku State University in 1981. I did research work at the Komarov Institute of Botany, USSR Academy of Sciences, and Moscow Lomonosov University. I earned my Ph.D. in Botany in 1989 from the Highest Attestation Committee of the Council of Ministers of USSR, Moscow, USSR.
Since 1994 I have worked in the United States at the University of Massachusetts Amherst as a post-doctoral research associate, research associate, and currently as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Stockbridge School of Agriculture and the Commonwealth Honors College. I am teaching an Herbal Medicine class there. My teaching experience also includes teaching an Ethnobotany class at Mount Holyoke College from 2005–2010.
I have over 90 scientific publications, including book chapters, and articles accepted by peer reviewed journals.
