NETA certificate for Regina Galasso

Regina Galasso, director of the Translation Center and associate professor in the Spanish and Portuguese Studies program, recently won the 2024 Ilse Andrews Service Award from the New England Translators Association (NETA).

The award recognizes the NETA member who has done the most as a volunteer for the association and was given during NETA’s annual conference, held on April 27 in Boston.

“It's an honor to receive this award. There are so many dedicated members of NETA who are excellent language professionals,” Galasso says. “I especially enjoy working with the conference committee exchanging ideas about conference speakers and topics of interest. NETA is a place where practicing professionals, scholars, educators, students, and anyone interested in translation can come together to see how certain topics shape our work. I'm really moved by this award and look forward to continuing to work together."

Each year, NETA selects one person to receive the award at its annual conference. Award recipients receive a formal certificate, one year’s free membership in NETA, and a gift certificate to bookshop.org.

The award was created in the early 2000s in honor of translator Ilse Andrews and her contributions to the organization as president and through other volunteer roles.
