About

HFA Days (March 26-27, 2026) invites the UMass community and beyond to experience different facets of teaching and learning, creative and scholarly work, and outreach by students, staff, and faculty.

Through HFA Days, we invite our broader UMass Community, as well as members of the College of Humanities and Fine Arts College to gain insight into what research, teaching, learning, and collaboration looks like in the humanities and fine arts. In its third year, HFA Days unfolds on two different  tracks.

First, Open Classroom offers an opportunity to experience the variety of modes of teaching and learnings and a wealth of topics and ideas from different disciplines.

Second, the Scholarship + Creative Work + Pedagogy offers different events listed below:

Lightning Talks and HFA Center and Initiatives presentations by HFA Faculty.

Pedagogical discussions on How to Teach Anything (focused on first Year Seminars) and Teaching Language and Culture (focused on Italian language)

Success Stories of Undergraduate Students, Graduate Student Spotlights, an MFA Thesis Exhibition, and Student Art Sale and Open Studios

HFA Days are organized by Associate Dean Pari Riahi.
