World-class educators and accomplished scholars.
The College of Humanities & Fine Arts (HFA) is the creative and cultural heart of the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Since its inception, HFA continually reaffirms the critical role that the arts and the thoughtful understanding of humanity play in higher education and a healthy society. Our students, faculty, and alumni offer perspectives as linguists, architects, historians, philosophers, artists, performers, and writers working in every medium.
Our mission is to foster an intellectual environment that allows students and faculty to engage in rigorous and thoughtful inquiry, debate, and creative work that is scholarly, ethical, and values diverse perspectives.
With illustrious faculty that perform at the highest levels in teaching, research, and service—the three pillars of the great land grant institutions—we are home to leading scholars and programs that provide students with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to succeed in college and prepare them to excel in a wide range of industries and professions.
Together, we work to elevate the centrality of education in humanities and the arts on campus and in the world, providing students with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to succeed in college and prepare them to excel in a wide range of industries and professions.
