About

Faculty research is integral to the vibrant intellectual, scholarly, and creative community at the College of Humanities & Fine Arts.

Research  opportunities are a hallmark of the HFA experience. Working closely with faculty, students gain the skills and insights to produce new knowledge and continue to expand the HFA disciplines in new directions. Our students are producing performances and podcasts driven by their research; recreating lost historic sites through 3D mapping; devising the next generation of smart buildings; and making surprising archaeological discoveries about the earliest forms of urban life at our dig in Poggio, Italy.

HFA research project participants gain confidence as creators, collaborators, and communicators of knowledge—lifelong skills essential in a complex, interdependent world. They also experience firsthand the excitement and rewards of working at the intersections of disciplines through HFA’s interdisciplinary research projects, which bring together art and technology, science and social justice, and medicine and ethics, and more.
