HFA Student Leadership Group (SLG)

A student-led group that promotes community and connections in HFA.

What is the HFA Student Leadership Group (SLG)?

The HFA Student Leadership Group (SLG) is an active student-led group of undergraduates whose mission is to foster a sense of community within the college and university by organizing fun HFA-inspired events and projects. SLG activities enable passionate students to explore and experience the humanities and fine arts outside of the classroom while meeting others and gaining leadership experiences for their resumes!

Funded and supported by the College of Humanities & Fine Arts, the SLG is an official Registered Student Organization (RSO) that meets weekly throughout the semester.

Projects and events include:

  • Publishing The Scribe, HFA’s student-run literary and arts publication.
  • Planning small and large events centered around the humanities and fine arts, such as the HFA Student Showcase, Open Mic Nights, and affordable outings to New York City.

Undergraduate UMass Amherst students from all majors and class years are welcome!

Spring 2024 Field Trip for HFA Majors

HFA Majors are welcome to sign up for the HFA Student Leadership Group (SLG)'s student-run Field Trip to New York City to visit the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) on Saturday, April 20 (8am-11pm) for only $20.00. 

Sign ups take place outside of the HFA Advising & Career Center (South College E202) the week of March 25-29 (M-F), or until spaces are filled.

Tickets are $20 (cash only), which includes round trip bus fare & museum entry to the MoMA- Museum of Modern Art. 

Priority to first time HFA attendees.
