A close-up portrait of a person with long dark hair, glasses, and a nose ring, looking slightly off-camera to the left. They are wearing a dark, textured top. The background is a solid, light blue color, and the subject is dramatically lit with a bright pink and purple light cast from behind and to the side.

The College of Humanities & Fine Arts is pleased to announce that Assistant Professor of Art Roopa Vasudevan will have several artworks featured in an upcoming exhibition at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA).

Titled Technologies of Relation, the exhibition brings together artists working across media to explore how technology shapes human relationships and to imagine more just, humane, and inclusive digital futures. For Vasudevan, whose practice centers on new media, the exhibition marks a significant milestone.

A gallery wall filled with numerous small, square artworks arranged in a grid. Each artwork is a colorful, hand-stitched embroidery depicting a unique QR code. Two people are standing in front of the wall, with one person holding up a smartphone to scan one of the embroidered codes.

“MASS MoCA is one of the most respected contemporary art institutions in the country,” Vasudevan said. “It’s meaningful to see them highlighting work that critically examines and reimagines digital systems–something I have been doing in my creative practice for over a decade."

The exhibition also brings together several of Vasudevan’s longtime friends and collaborators, placing their works in conversation to help audiences reflect on the rapid pace of technological change.

“I’m thrilled to be part of this exhibition at an institution I’ve long admired,” Vasudevan said. “I hope that this show will help audiences see the critical and important perspectives that artists can bring to the fast-evolving technological landscape.”

On view February 21, 2026 through spring 2027.

For more information pleave visit MASS MoCA's exhibition page.
