Certificate in Medieval Studies
Explore the historical, artistic, literary, and intellectual dimensions of medieval culture.
The world of the Middle Ages was far different from the one we know today and yet many of the things we take for granted, from the bound book to international banking, have their roots in those distant centuries.
The certificate in medieval studies offers undergraduate students the opportunity to receive recognition for their exploration of the rich diversity of medieval culture. It includes the historical, artistic, literary, and intellectual dimensions of a major formative period of Western civilization.
The program is fundamentally interdisciplinary in nature, drawing on course offerings in art history and architecture, Catalan, classics, comparative literature, English, French, Italian, German, history, Japanese, Judaic and Near Eastern studies, philosophy, Portuguese, and Spanish.
All undergraduates are eligible, regardless of major.
