About

Rebecca Woodland is Professor of Educational Policy, Research and Administration, Director of Program Evaluation at the UMass Center for Educational Assessment, and Associate Director of the UMass Center for Education Policy

Dr. Woodland leads local, national, and international research and evaluation projects - most recently the Computer Science for All Research-Practice Partnership in Springfield, MA, EmbraceRace Evaluation, and the Quantum Training Academy evaluation. She is Section Editor for the American Journal of Evaluation, and is on the editorial boards of Evaluation and Program Planning, Practical Assessment, Research, & Evaluation, the SAGE Encyclopedia of Research Design, and SAGE Encyclopedia of Educational Research, Measurement and Evaluation. As Vice-President of the International Network for the Science of Team Science, she works with colleagues from around the world to advance collaborative inquiry as the engine for advancing science that leads to meaningful social change.

Rebecca's scholarship is inspired by on the ground experience and her passion for teaching and learning. She was a public school social studies teacher, an education director for unsheltered youth, and a university director of teacher education prior to joining the UMass faculty in 2006. She lives in Amherst with her spouse, kids, and 3 dogs.
