The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) Marcom Team is available to help with website updates, mass emails to SBS audiences, social media, event planning and promotion, and the promotion of programs, events, internships, research, and more. Please note that due to time and resource constraints, we may be unable to assist with all projects.

Event Planning and Promotion

We are pleased to assist with planning SBS College and Department-level events open to faculty, staff, students, and/or alumni. We are happy to promote all SBS, SBS-sponsored, and SBS-related events.

For event planning, please note that most campus spaces require scheduling at least a month in advance, with popular locations like the Old Chapel often requiring even more lead time. Catering requests should be made [length of time] prior to the event.

Support for video recording is available. However, support is limited to instances where the recording will be shared broadly and/or made publicly available. We do not support live streaming or hybrid events at this time.

For event promotion, event details should be finalized at least 2 weeks prior to the event. Details required include:

  • Event Title
  • Event Date and Time
  • Event Location
  • Event Description – A description is important because it lets potential attendees know what to expect at the event and encourages them to attend. It doesn’t have to be extensive; even one or two sentences is helpful. Speaker bios are not an event description.
  • Names of Speakers & Bios (if readily available)

College and Department-level websites are managed by the SBS Marcom Team. We are happy to provide guidance on content organization and make necessary updates. While we strive to make changes quickly, complex edits may take some time. Please use the form below to request assistance with department websites.

New Websites

UMass IT handles requests for new websites. Drupal Framework sites are reserved for departments, official centers, and institutes. For information on which programs are considered official centers and institutes, as well as information on the process of receiving official status, visit the Research & Engagement website. For other entities, UMass IT offers free Wordpress sites.

Faculty Directory Listings

Due to time and personnel constraints, we are unable to update faculty directory listings more than once a semester. We encourage faculty to consider using an evergreen (or almost evergreen) bio for their directory listing, along with a link to a personal website. With a personal website, faculty have full control over content, design, and updates.
