SBS Communication & Event Support
The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) Marcom Team is available to help with the promotion of programs, internships, events, research, and more. It is our goal to keep our students, faculty, staff, and alumni informed of all the great work being done here at SBS!
As representatives of the University, we are also stewards of the UMass Amherst brand, and are happy to provide guidance on questions related to visual design, typography, editorial guidelines, and more. Please note that due to time and resource constraints, we are not able to assist with all projects.

How can we help?
Are you an SBS departmental communicator looking for marcom training, MarketingCloud, website, or social media support and resources? We have a page just for you!
The SBS Marcom Team is available to help promote projects that draw audiences beyond those within a single department. We strive to bring the SBS community together by sharing news, updates, events, and achievements with our community. Our team is happy to support the following marcom requests:
Share Your Stories
The SBS Marcom Team is always on the lookout for opportunities to share the amazing work of our students, faculty, and staff. We have several platforms where this content can be shared, depending on the appropriate audience.
Beyond SBS, the University has multiple options for sharing information through their platforms, including Inside UMass, UMass News and Events, and the UMass Magazine. Stories submitted for sharing through University outlets should be of interest to a broad audience.
Event Planning and Promotion
We are happy to assist with planning and promoting SBS, SBS-sponsored, and SBS-related events. For those seeking assistance with securing event space, please know that most spaces on campus require scheduling at least a month in advance, with popular locations like the Old Chapel often requiring more lead time. For promotion, event details including title, description, and speakers, should be finalized by two weeks prior to the event.
For events sponsored by the Dean’s Office, we can provide in-person technical support. To ensure staffing of your event, please submit a request for assistance no later than three weeks prior to the event. To request technical assistance, please contact Sam Sarfaty-Jackson (sam [dot] jackson [at] umass [dot] edu).
Professional Photography
Our team is happy to work with faculty and staff to produce professional-quality headshots for use online and in print publications. To schedule a session, please contact Sam Sarfaty-Jackson (sam [dot] jackson [at] umass [dot] edu).
