Kinesiology doctoral candidate Colleen Chase was among the 10 UMass Amherst PhD students who competed in the UMass Amherst Graduate School's seventh annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition held on March 3, 2023.
The 3MT is held in more than 200 universities worldwide. Organized by the Graduate School on the Amherst campus, the 3MT challenges doctoral students to describe their research in an engaging manner, using non-technical language, all in three minutes or less. The exercise develops presentation, research and academic communication skills and supports the development of research students' capacity to explain their work effectively.
Chase, who studies under the faculty mentorship of Assistant Professor Katie Potter in the Department of Kinesiology, made a presentation titled "The KID Study: Kids Interacting with Dogs." Watch Colleen's presentation below.
This year's winner was Grasshopper Anderson-Merritt, a doctoral student in earth, geographic and climate sciences.
