Groundwater Governance and Policies
With climate change adversely impacting natural resources, sustainable groundwater has become a key issue that scientists and policymakers urgently need to address.
As chair of the International Water Resources Association (IWRA) Groundwater Task Force, Environmental Conservation professor Anita Milman is bringing awareness to our water supply—from drinking water to agricultural usage—coinciding with the United Nations’ theme of the year: “Groundwater: Making the Invisible Visible.”
Through World Water Day webinars, a training program for policymakers, a groundwater escape room game, and writing a chapter of the UN’s World Water Development report, Millman is leading the way in freshwater sustainability action.
Last year she received three NSF grants that aim to identify new water quality technologies and supplier decision-making, measure the effects of state-level policies, and organize partnerships among community water systems in the U.S. Find out more about the United Nations World Water Development Report here.
