History and Social Thought and Political Economy (STPEC) Double Major

Spring 2026 Graduation

Studied abroad in London, England as part of the UMass Global Launch Program

Studying abroad in London during my first semester of college shaped my perspective deeply. Living independently for three months taught me how to structure my life by managing daily routines, budgeting, grocery shopping, and planning weekend trips across Europe. The experience gave me cultural competency and adaptability to navigate international, professional and personal spaces and relationships.

I’m grateful for the values London instilled in me: curiosity, cultural competency, adventure, and independence. Returning to UMass Amherst, I felt prepared to settle into a new environment and build a network of professors, advisors, and friends.

Now, as I complete my undergraduate degree and begin my Master’s in Public Policy, I look back on London with gratitude. I’m currently writing my CHC Honors Thesis on Cape Verdean women who fought for independence from Portugal in the 1970s. In January, I’ll travel to Cabo Verde and Portugal to conduct oral interviews and archival research to help bring marginalized voices into public memory. After graduation, I plan to pursue a career in public service, creating positive change through law and policy.
