Studied abroad in Cyprus at the University of Nicosia during January of 2024 and Valencia,
Spain at the Universidad Catolica de Valencia during the Spring of 2025 semester
During my undergraduate years, I have been fortunate enough to study in two different countries that have allowed me to be immersed in cultures other than my own. Firstly, I studied abroad in Cyprus at the University of Nicosia during an extensive three week Cross Cultural Communications program. I was able to experience a Mediterranean island country that had more recently gained independence in the 1960s. Studying firsthand and learning about its comprehensive history allowed me to grow appreciation for cultural identity. The most awe inspiring moment I had while on this trip was talking to the directors of PeacePlayers Cyprus which was an organization that sought to reconcile the inter-ethnic barrier between Greek-Cypriots and Turkish-Cypriot youth through basketball. My Cyprus study abroad experience was a great stepping stone before going on my own to Valencia, Spain for a whole semester. While in Spain, I took classes in Spanish history and classes geared more towards my future professional career in healthcare. Outside of the classroom, I enjoyed visiting other parts of Spain and surrounding European countries. My favorite experience in Valencia was attending Las Fallas festival events and connecting with locals during a time of celebration that paid homage to craftsmanship and the coming of Spring.
I am currently writing my thesis on an observational study that is looking at 24-hour movement behaviors in preschool aged children and their compliance with the World Health Organization Physical Activity Guidelines in Western MA. After graduation, I plan to obtain an M.S in Physician Assistant Studies and continue to travel!
