Multidisciplinary Honors

Multidisciplinary Honors (MH) offers the opportunity to broaden your academic interests between two or more disciplines.  

It is the suggested choice for students who wish to pursue Honors work beyond the boundaries of the primary major. 

Timing 

Faculty guidance is a critical component of the Multidisciplinary Honors program. Be proactive by contacting and meeting with multiple faculty mentors to lay the groundwork for your Honors Thesis. To help you decide upon the approach that works best for you, review the Individually Contracted Honors Thesis approach and the Thesis Seminar course offerings and discuss your thoughts with your Honors Advisor. By April of your junior year, you will need to identify how you will complete your Honors Thesis. 

Requirements 

Honors Curriculum requirements for the MH track include all four of the following Depth of Study MH requirements in any major: 

• One Honors courses at any level
• One Honors course at or above the 300 level
• Honors Thesis, minimum of 6 credits total. Options include:
  • Individually Contracted Thesis in any department, XXX 499Y Honors Research and XXX 499P/T Honors Thesis
  • Honors Thesis Seminar in any department: Minimum 6 credits and typically offered over two semesters (Fall & Spring)
