The event began with a breakfast and networking session, during which attendees gathered to celebrate and share their accomplishments, both personal and professional. After breakfast, the keynote presentation commenced: “A Feminist Framework for Higher Ed Leadership,” featuring Dr. Patrice Torcivia Prusko and Dr. Kim Burns. The speech was a collaborative reflection on the fact that, despite all the progress women have made, they are currently facing a new set of challenges. The audience was invited to quietly reflect on their vision for the future of higher education leadership. After pondering this question, the audience then responded in a written reflection: “How do historical and contemporary power structures impact me?” and “In what ways have I broken with traditional/patriarchal conceptions of leadership?”

The keynote encouraged the audience to consider how they can shift institutional values and redefine success in the workplace to uplift women and prioritize collaboration.

After the keynote address, the awards presentation began, recognizing several women for their efforts in creating networks that support women in their respective fields. Ruth Slotnick received the Leadership Award, Teresa Lee was honored with the Tala Khudairi Emerging Leader Award, Mounira Morris was awarded the Catalyst for Women’s Empowerment Award, and Alexis Stokes was recognized with the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Award.

Around 11:00, the event wrapped with a book giveaway. Members of the audience were entered into a raffle, and those selected were invited to pick a book of their choice. Each book was brought by a member of ACE Women’s Network to encourage sharing knowledge and expertise amongst the group.
