Whether you're a student needing a caffeine boost for those long study sessions or a coffee enthusiast on the hunt for the perfect cup, you're in the right place. Amherst and its neighboring towns boast a vibrant coffee scene, with cozy cafés and unique roasteries that cater to all tastes. In this blog, I will share some of my favorite coffee spots that I hope will become your favorites too!
Futura Coffee Roasters
This coffee shop opened this past year and was a wonderful find. It is tucked away in The Mill District, located in North Amherst. The business itself began in Oregon and has five shops there, with this being the first one in Massachusetts! The coffee is well-brewed, and when I visited, I ordered a delicious iced mocha latte. They also have an assortment of pastries to pair with your coffee. The atmosphere of the store is wonderful and makes for a great space to do homework, as it is well-lit, filled with plants, and has the aroma of freshly brewed coffee.
Cushman Market and Café
Located in North Amherst, just around the bend from Puffer’s Pond, is my favorite breakfast and coffee spot. Cushman Market not only offers a wide selection of breakfast foods but also delicious coffee and tea. I usually opt for the iced maple latte, but they also have almond, coconut, lavender, pumpkin spice, rose, caramel, hazelnut, orange, raspberry, and vanilla flavor shots. If you aren’t in the mood for coffee, they offer hot chocolate, Italian soda, chai, and much more.
Amherst Coffee
This coffee shop is likely one of the more aesthetically pleasing cafés in Amherst, as natural light pours in through the windows and the room is filled with greenery and decor. Not only are the aesthetics wonderful, but the coffee is as well. Here, you will encounter a strongly brewed coffee or espresso, which I tend to prefer. The café has also begun offering Quivr, a canned nitro cold brew. Amherst Coffee offers the highest quality products, and I would suggest it to anyone looking for a well-brewed beverage.
Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters
This was my first time visiting Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters, but it will definitely not be my last. I ordered a birthday cake cold brew, and it was fantastic. I normally don’t order cold brew, but the birthday cake flavor enticed me and did not disappoint. I also loved the atmosphere of the café and appreciated the variety of dairy and nondairy creamers at no extra charge.
Share Coffee Roasters
This café has been a staple of mine since moving to Amherst. Their coffee beans are brewed at my favorite coffee shop back home, so whenever I go, it is a taste of home. I always order their iced maple latte or hot cappuccino and usually pair it with one of the many baked goods they offer. Share is a great spot to do homework, and you will be sure to find plenty of students sipping coffee with their laptops and books at the table.
There are many more coffee shops in Amherst and the surrounding towns, but these are my personal favorites and ones I highly recommend to anyone looking for good coffee or tea!
