2023 was full of favorites so I figured I’d share a few of mine. Below I talk about my #1 artist, song, movie, tv show and hobby of 2023!

#1 Artist

It was hard to pick who my top artist was this year, but after careful consideration, I’ve decided it has to be Phoebe Bridgers. She has been the artist I listened to most consistently throughout the year and I even got the chance to see her open for Taylor Swift at the Eras Tour. Phoebe has always been one of my favorite artists and is in my top 5 every year, but it’s clear she came out on top in 2023.

Favorite Song of 2023

I recently discovered my new all-time favorite song, “I Can See You (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)” by Taylor Swift. I’ve always loved her album Speak Now, but it wasn’t until recently that she released this one from the vault. Back in May, when I attended the Eras Tour I dressed in the theme of Speak Now so it was meant to be that my new favorite song would be on this album!

Favorite Movie of the Year

Again, it was hard to pick my favorite movie I watched this year because I saw a fair share of great films. Fortunately, I keep a list of all of the movies I watched and was able to sift through it and decide and landed on Hackshaw Ridge starring Andrew Garfield. The movie was released in 2016, but I hadn’t gotten around to watching it until last month. I have always had a niche interest in war movies, but this one will remain at the top of my list for a while and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to feel inspired. The film captures the atrocities of war, but also does a wonderful job of highlighting how World War 2 soldiers gained the name “The Greatest Generation.”  I won’t spoil it, but keep that in mind if you are thinking about watching it.

My Best Show of 2023

Choosing which show I watched in 2023 was the easiest decision so far. My favorite show I watched this year was Suits! I have yet to finish, and am only on season five of nine, but I am obsessed with it. I adore every character and love how well-written the script is. Aside from the characters, my favorite aspect of the show is feeling like I am learning something while watching it. Although it's just a show I can for sure say I know more about the law than I did before watching it. My favorite thing to do after a long day of classes is curl up on the couch and binge suits if time allows.

Favorite Hobbies of 2023

I’ve never considered myself to have many hobbies because I don’t often take the time to focus on them. But after taking some time to think about it, I realized that I discovered a new hobby of mine earlier this year. I started to collage with magazine scraps and made artwork out of it. I would spend hours piecing together images I found and framing the final product. I never considered myself to be an artistic person, but this form of art was one I found to be super easy. Another hobby I picked up again in 2023 is running. I am training for a half marathon in Bologna, Italy, so I have been running five days a week in preparation for the race. This has been a  great way to spend my free time, and I am so glad to have picked up an old hobby I used to love so much back in the day.
