The DAAD Study Scholarship will support me in obtaining a master’s degree in Germany in economics/political science. During the research portion of the master’s program, I would like to study the impact of local governance strategy on inter-municipal migration patterns and the resources provided to both internal and international migrants in Germany, with a focus on the integration of migrants in ‘small towns.’ Depending on the master’s program selected I will also inform this research by comparison between countries, focusing on East-Central Europe. After completing my study in Germany, I plan to return to the United States to pursue a Ph.D. in computational social science. Specifically, I hope to study the political-economic and demographic dynamics that influence the degree to which citizens engage in local government within their own communities.
