Apply – Undergraduate Students
Current students
Students who are interested in applying and declaring an Education major, are recommended to make an advising appointment prior to applying.
The applications for our EDUC licensure programs are not yet open for the Academic Year 2025/2026. Please check back later this fall for the applications and application deadline information.
4+1 programs
Students interested in applying for one of our accelerated 4+1 programs will complete the application in fall/winter their junior year and if accepted start taking graduate level courses in their senior year. Please see below for specific applications. The benefits of the accelerated 4+1 program include:
- Efficiency: Complete your undergraduate and graduate degree in 5 years
- Cost Savings: Double count credits (exact number depends on program) toward your undergraduate and graduate degrees
Prospective students
Students enter the College of Education either as a Community Education and Social Change major or as an Education Exploratory Track Student (Undeclared). Students interested in one of our teaching programs (Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Secondary Education, or Elementary Education) need to apply to these programs. Special Education
Students interested in applying for the Special Education program will apply during fall/winter of their sophomore year and if accepted begin the program during their junior year.
The application for Special Education is will open in early November.
Community Education and Social Change
Students interested in the Community Education and Social Change major should make an advising appointment to declare the major.
Early Childhood Education
Students interested in applying for the Early Childhood Education program will apply during fall/winter of their sophomore year and if accepted start the program during their junior year.

Elementary Education 4+1
Students interested in applying for the Elementary Education 4+1 program will apply during fall/winter of their junior year and if accepted start taking graduate level courses in their senior year.

Secondary Education 4+1
Students interested in applying for the Secondary Education 4+1 program will apply during fall/winter of their sophomore year and if accepted start the program during their junior year.

Higher Education 4+1

The Higher Education 4+1 program is designed to assist students who aspire to become leaders in Higher Education. This program is designed for undergraduate students considering entering the field of higher education to become future leaders in:
student affairs
research
policy analysis
college administration
The course work in Higher Education engages students to reimagine and examine the field of higher education through the lenses of critical theory and social justice.
Students interested in the Higher Education 4+1 program apply during the fall of their junior year and if accepted, start taking graduate level courses their senior year.
Prior to applying, we encourage students to take EDUC 300 Current Issues in Higher Education, and EDUC 393F Leadership Careers in Student Affairs, along with at least one social justice educational course.
