Program of Study

Once you identify an interest in the program, we encourage you to take EDUC393-F Leadership Careers in Student Affairs or EDUC300 Current Issues in Higher Education. These courses can help you identify more concretely whether a career in higher education is the right fit for you. We also encourage you to take at least one course in Social Justice Education, as the 4+1 program focuses heavily on issues of equity and social justice. 

Program of Study

Students in the accelerated program have to fulfill the same requirements as students in the M.Ed. program. Consult the student handbook for additional information about the required courses. Below is the recommended course of study that begins the Fall of your senior year. 

Fall of Senior Year

  • EDUC 643 Foundations of Higher Education
  • EDUC 691E - Confronting Oppression in Education

Spring of Senior Year

  • EDUC 644 Critical Perspectives on Equity and Justice in Higher Education
  • EDUC 697K Supporting Student Success

Summer before Graduate Year

  • EDUC 696F Individualized Study/Supervised Practice (while doing practicum, IF applicable)

Fall of Graduate Year

  • EDUC 689ED - Professional Practice & Career Development in Higher Education
  • EDUC 641 Assessment, Evaluation & Research in Higher Education
  • Elective / Specialization Course
  • EDUC 696F Individualized Study/Supervised Practice (or Elective / Specialization Course)

Spring of Graduate Year

  • EDUC 675 - Master's Integrative
  • Elective / Specialization Course
  • EDUC - 696F Individualized Study/Supervised Practice (or Elective / Specialization Course)
  • Elective / Specialization Course (if necessary - e.g., if did not take summer EDUC 698ED with practicum)
