Are you interested in a faculty career? The UMass Amherst Graduate School is pleased to co-sponsor the New England Future Faculty Workshop (NE-FFW), which will be held virtually on Wednesday July 28 and Thursday, July 29, 2021.The NE-FFW is designed specifically for postdoctoral fellows and advanced graduate students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Health Sciences, Social Sciences, and the Humanities who are interested in an academic career. The Graduate School is pleased to sponsor the $50 registration fee for UMass Amherst graduate students and postdocs accepted into the workshop.
Northeastern University is committed to cultivating talent and promoting the full inclusion of excellence. This workshop is designed to serve those who are members of groups whose representation in faculty positions is smaller than their representation in the U.S. population. This includes women, racial and ethnic minorities, persons with disabilities, first-generation students, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. This two-day workshop includes faculty-led interactive discussions and peer-to-peer interactions for topics such as: Finding Your Institutional Fit, Perfecting Your Interview Skills, Making Your CV Stand Out, Crafting Research, Teaching and Diversity Statements, Negotiating the Job Offer, and more.
Applications must be submitted through the NE-FFW website by June 1. The website provides resources for preparing the required application documents (expected in draft quality, not perfection). Acceptance decisions will be communicated by NE-FFW organizers in mid-June. Once accepted by NE-FFW, UMass participants should contact the Graduate School Office of Professional Development (OPD) to manage the registration payment.
