Dr. Sarah Fefer was recently recognized for her outstanding contributions to the field of positive behavior support—both through her scholarship and her leadership.

At the 2025 Association for Positive Behavior Support (APBS) Conference in St. Louis, Dr. Fefer received the national “Under 40 to Watch” award. This prestigious recognition honors emerging leaders who are making meaningful impacts in schools and communities through inclusive, equity-driven practices.
Dr. Fefer was also invited to lead a pre-conference workshop focused on supporting families through behavior challenges at home and school. Grounded in her family-centered work—including the guide Helping Your Family Thrive, which she co-authored with her mentor—the session provided practical strategies for educators and caregivers alike.

These conference honors come at the same time as three new publications featuring chapters authored by Dr. Fefer. Two of the books—Cognitive-Behavioral Interventions in Educational Settings and the Handbook of Cognitive-Behavior Group Therapy with Children and Adolescents—center on mental health and behavior interventions in schools. Her third contribution appears in Family–School Collaboration in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, a timely guide to building equity-focused partnerships between schools and families.
Dr. Fefer’s work reflects the College’s commitment to advancing equity, collaboration, and practical, research-based support for students and the adults who serve them.
